Cracking Criminal Cases

China's Ministry of Public Security on June 21 held a news conference, during which the ministry's officials outlined China's remarkable achievements in cracking transnational criminal cases involving human abductions and trafficking. The event was held in Beijing.

An official (of the ministry) noted Chinese police officers in recent years have cooperated with police officers in Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Thailand, to crack down on human abductions and trafficking . The official said public security agencies of the six countries in recent years have cracked 760 criminal cases involving marriage fraud and/or the abductions of and trafficking in Chinese citizens and people (including 1,130 women and 17 children) from other countries. As a result, 1,332 criminals have been captured.

The official also explained the ministry's key targets on preventing and cracking down on human abductions and trafficking.
